Be Thankful!

“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.” Psalms 75:1 (KJV) Beloved, I praise God for a multitude of abundant blessings; however, like you, I praise the Lord for being Himself. God is ‘ GOOD ’ saints! Hallelujah ! I am so thankful for the Willow Street church family and our friends. There is so much to be thankful for, and with the Lord’s help, we have accomplished a lot this year. I once read, " A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue but the parent of all other virtues ." Thus we recognize that creating a heart of gratefulness brought us through various seasons and challenges. Thankfulness springs forth our eternal destiny that Jesus assured and purposed for us, no matter what challenges we have faced. YES ! Beloved, we have witnessed individuals being healed, giving their lives to Jesus, being transformed, and electing to become serious about their walk with the Lord! Yes ! Furthermore, we are intentional in giving thanks daily to Him. I believe the Lord is smiling upon our ministries, homes, places of employment, and ushering His divine favor upon us. Glory ! So may we never become complacent in demonstrating our gratefulness unto the Lord. Being thankful daily is an important trait in the life of a Christian. Here are a few verses to remind us of the need for thanksgiving: · 2 Corinthians 9:11 ; “ You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God .” · Colossians 3:17 ; “ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him .” · Ephesians 5:4 ; “ Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving .” This Sunday, I would like to invite you to bring an item that represents something that reminds you to give thanks . It might be a picture. It might be a gift that you received. It might be a book or a baptism certificate. Whatever the item is, I would also invite you to place it on the altar during the service. I hope that this exercise will remind all of us of how much we truly have been blessed, and that, as Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 15:57 , that our mouths are filled with thanksgiving. “ But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ .”
