One time there were two farmers who were going through a period of terrible drought, they were at a place of discouragement. One farmer went ahead and plowed his fields, trusting GOD to send the rain. The other farmer thought, “What’s the Use?” Planting time came but still no rain. The first farmer planted his seed; the other farmer mocked and made fun. The first farmer said,” GOD WILL SEND THE RAIN.” A month went by, still no rain, but the first farmer kept his faith and trusted God for deliverance. One morning the sky grew dark and the rain began to fall, bringing fresh life to the first farmer’s crop. HE did the right thing! Through faith he TRUSTED GOD. The other farmer lost everything because of unbelief. The farmer that kept his faith was delivered and blessed by God. His faith and resilience to believe God was rewarded. He did the work. In other words, his faith was active. Yet, in this illustration, the word to be used is deliverance . Deliverance is an amazing word. The very sound of it stirs the heart and mind. The meaning of it does so as well. Deliver in the O.T. Hebrew natsa means, “to rescue, to deliver.” It is used for physical rescue or physical deliverance. For example, in Exodus 3:8, God says, " I have come down to deliver Israel ." That is to rescue them, to bring them out of that land, being with them, bringing them into a good and spacious land which was the land of Canaan. Beloved, we have exercised being delivered from something that held us captive. Yet there could be lingering issues that require full deliverance. One assured way is to allow the Holy Spirit to have full reign in our hearts and to enter into a solid discipleship process with Him. Folks, there are many who are saved, but still hold on to lingering self-destructive behaviors of the past. Beloved know this, whatever your need, God knows how to deliver His people! Glory! If a particular sin or behavior is causing you to trip over and over again, ask God for deliverance. Romans 6 : 1 - 2 (NLT) says, “ Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace ? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it ?” Take note, like the farmer who believed for his crops or harvest, we can believe God to deliver us from our strongholds. God IS the power that can strengthen us in those areas that cause us to sin. Glory! Blessings! Pastor Lloyd Pastor Lloyd 2020 'INTENTIONAL'
